While studying landscape architecture at Harvard, we figured that seaweed farming not only provides economic opportunities for farmers but also has higher carbon sequestration capacities.
Also, a quick internet search will tell you that the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of the total global carbon emissions. Linking these concerns and ideas together. I co-founded Saltech which aims to produce clothes made up of Seaweed Fiber. Saltech initiative which aims to produce clothes made up of seaweed fibers. The production of sea weed also dosnt need any deforestration activities as its is needed for other fabrics like hemp or cotton. Also the seaweed fabric is also an excellent option as it has high sweat-wicking capacities and it may also retain some nutrients from the plant that a human skin can directly absorb. We believe at Saltech Seaweed is the answer for addressing climate change without giving up the comfort and destroying the natural landscapes
