This project proposes a conceptual integration of current redevelopment with historic formal patterns to provide a healthy, open, mixed-use community for all. Benefitting from access to the Detroit River, water is welcomed on-site through a system of canals deployed as a unique public amenity and sustainable organizing principle. Three distinct housing types provide a repeatable basic design, allowing for scalar phasing and relatably-scaled gradients from core to neighborhood. An urban market, a wetland park, and integrated transit completes the picture of walkable urbanism that is distinctly Detroit.
