The grounded chair is a unique and innovative design that has been created by upcycling a damaged chair seat that was destined for the landfill. The original chair, designed by Muuto, was based on the principles of minimalism which reduced its structural integrity and capacity. To overcome these limitations and incorporate the ideas of minimalism, the chair has been up-scaled into a three-legged support system. This design evolution has not only enhanced the chair’s stability but also made it more functional and comfortable to sit on.
The grounded chair is a perfect example of how upcycling can breathe new life into old and damaged items, while also promoting sustainable design principles. By repurposing a discarded chair seat and incorporating innovative design elements, the grounded chair is a unique and environmentally friendly piece of furniture that is designed to last long.
